JAXA จับมือ GISTDA (handshake) สนับสนุนการวิจัยเนื้อเยื่อหนูทดลองจากอวกาศให้แก่นักวิจัยไทย

24 สิงหาคม 2566 GISTDA ลงนามบันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือ กับ JAXA ประเทศญี่ปุ่น เพื่อแบ่งปันเนื้อเยื่อหนูทดลองที่ถูกนำไปทดลองสภาวะเกือบไร้แรงโน้มถ่วง (Microgravity) บนสถานีอวกาศนานาชาติ (ในส่วนที่ชื่อว่า KIBO ของญี่ปุ่น) ให้แก่นักวิจัยไทยเพื่อนำไปทดลองและศึกษาถึงผลกระทบของแรงโน้มถ่วงต่อโครงสร้างระบบประสาท ระบบกล้ามเนื้อและระบบกระดูกของสัตว์ฟันแทะ โดยหลังลงนาม JAXA จะจัดส่งเนื้อเยื่อหนูทดลองมาที่ไทยเพื่อให้คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล นำไปทดลอง

GISTDA ในฐานะหน่วยงานหลักด้านอวกาศของประเทศสนับสนุนให้เกิดการทดลองในอวกาศในหมู่นักวิจัยของประเทศไทย และ JAXA เป็นหน่วยงานด้านอวกาศของต่างประเทศที่ร่วมกับ GISTDA เพื่อส่งเสริมการวิจัยมาโดยตลอด โดยก่อนหน้านี้เป็นการร่วมมือกันเพื่อศึกษาการผลึกโปรตีนของเชื้อมาเลเลีย เพื่อพัฒนายาต้านมาเลเรียซึ่งดำเนินการโดย สวทช.


JAXA collaborates with GISTDA to support research on Mouse Tissue from space to Thai researchers
On 24th August, GISTDA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to cooperate in sharing experimental mouse tissue that has been subjected to microgravity conditions on the International Space Station (Specifically in the Japanese KIBO Module) This tissue will be provide to Thai researchers for experimentation and study regarding the impact of microgravity on the nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems of rodents. Following the agreement, JAXA will send the experimental mouse tissue to Thailand, where the Faculty of Science at Mahidol University will conduct further tests.
GISTDA, as the primary space agency in Thailand, supports and facilitates space experiments within the Thai research community, while JAXA is a foreign space agency that collaborates with GISTDA to promote research. Previously, the two agencies worked together to investigate the protein crystallization of melioidosis bacteria, aiming to develop drugs to combat the disease, under the super of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA).
