GISTDA, led by the Deputy Executive Director (Damrongrit Niammuad, Ph.D.), participated in the 31st Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-31),
GISTDA, led by the Deputy Executive Director (Damrongrit Niammuad, Ph.D.), participated in the 31st Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-31), held from 17-21 November 2025, in Cebu, Philippines, under the theme "Empowering the Region through Space Ecosystems in Action." This participation underscored GISTDA's strong and continuous role/status/value as Thailand's principal space organization and demonstrated its commitment to promoting regional space cooperation.
GISTDA presented an overview of Thailand's space and geo-informatics activities undertaken in cooperation with international partners over the past year and announced the national space vision and policy aimed at driving sustainable economic and social development. Through its Country Statement, GISTDA articulated its vision and ongoing space missions that address key regional issues, including transboundary pollution, Space Situational Awareness (SSA)/Space Traffic Management (STM), and Space exploration. It also expressed Thailand's expectation for the APRSAF meeting to serve as a vital mechanism for addressing shared regional challenges including presented the progress of activities under APRSAF’s initiatives and participated in discussions within various Working Groups and side events throughout APRSAF-31.
Furthermore, GISTDA held bilateral discussions with high-level representatives from leading global space agencies to strengthen relationships and cooperation on various future projects. These agencies included the European Space Agency (ESA), Philippines Space Agency (PhilSA), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Australian Space Agency (ASA), Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Geoscience Australia (GA), Taiwan Space Agency (TASA), and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
APRSAF is considered a significant multilateral space cooperation platform in the Asia-Pacific, bringing together over 500 stakeholders from across the region. In addition to maintaining/expanding various space collaborations, a key objective of participating in this APRSAF was to announce Thailand's readiness to efficiently and optimally host APRSAF-32 in 2026 in Bangkok.
