About Us

Thailand joined the NASA ERTS-1 project, the world’s first resource survey satellite, on September 14, 1971, under the operation of the Satellite Natural Resources Survey Project Office of the National Research Council — coordinating satellite data procurement, performing data analysis and technology transfer, as well as providing scholarships for training, visits and conferences both nationally and internationally. With the success of the project, its status was changed to a division-level agency named the Division of Natural Resources Survey by Satellite in 1979, and in 1982 a satellite receiving station was established in Lat Krabang District, Bangkok — the first receiving station in Southeast Asia.
