On Tuesday 17 January, 2017, Dr.Atchaka Sibunruang, Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology presided over 2nd UAV Startup 2017 at Queen Sirikit Convention Center, which organized by National Innovation Agency (NIA) and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) in order to give an opportunity and as an important stage for people, group of people, including the startup Thai enterprise (Startup) in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) development project, to aim for sustainable commercial use.
Dr.Atchaka Sibunruang, Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology stated “This activity is conform to the government policy in the industrial sector in the future (New S-curve), which is Aviation and Logistics that the cabinet has agreed to develop and encourage, including enhance Thailand’s economic to grow by leaps and bounds, by emphasize on developing science, technology and innovation which is highly essential in stepping into Thailand 4.0. The two hosts; NIA and GISTDA will support the entrepreneur through academic and financial mechanism. For UAV innovation project that is during a test to assure the possibility of technology in making process of prototype or pilot which is cumulative from research and development of an invention or patent that is certified and passed technology assessment in order to build competitive capability of Thai entrepreneur to be able to cover the need in all aspects of the country. This will help pushing forward a society of entrepreneur and drive Thailand’s economic to stable, wealthy, and sustainability.”
Dr.Atchaka Sibunruang also added that in the past, GISTDA has policy to support aerial survey using UAV all along, which these technologies have become continuously growing and developing business with high competitive in the country. From the increasing role on military security, survey, and agriculture, mapping, photography, sport, and mass communication, including an important mission related to UAV security which is considered an industry based on high technology. Therefore, it requires Innovation-Driven Enterprise to drive the industry in order to create an innovation that meets end user’s need. This activity is highly important to the new entrepreneur because besides acquiring plenty of knowledge, it also created inspiration in building business to grow and generate an income with science, technology, and innovation. And in this May, Startup THAILAND 2017 will be organized by Ministry of Science and Technology, which will certainly carry the selected achievements from an idea contest in order to lead to a project development.
