GISTDA delegates participate in the Joint Meeting of Regional Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center Steering/Expert Committee and the 4th Seminar on China-ASEAN Satellite Remote Sensing

During 3-5 December 2024, in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, China, representatives from GISTDA take part in the Joint Meeting of ASEAN-China Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center (ACSAC, “the Center”) Steering/Expert Committee and the 4th Seminar on China-ASEAN Satellite Remote Sensing.

As an essential part of the Center’s Steering Committee, Mrs. Kandasri Limpakom, Deputy Executive Director of GISTDA, received the honor to deliver both opening speeches at the Meeting and Seminar. Her contributions through the events also guided and shaped the direction of the Center’s future activities. In the long run, 2025-2026 Work Plan of the Center is approved, the innovative geo-spatial products, for example, Space-Data-Processor (SDP), Multi-Source Image Intelligent Interpretation System (GXRS-IIS), Ocean Color Anomaly Dataset Covering Southeast Asia-China Sea Area, A map of China-Southeast Asia intertidal wetlands, will be fully released, and the opportunities to jointly conduct pioneering projects between China-Southeast Asia countries will be noticeably more. Most importantly, the Center will strengthen further cooperation and relationship with relevant organizations/research institutes across Southeast Asian region.

Additionally, Dr. Teerawat Suwanlertcharoen, Geo-informatics Officer of GISTDA, one of the Center’s Expert Committee, attended the 4th Seminar on China-ASEAN Satellite Remote Sensing as speaker, providing the topic “Updates on Space Applications in Thailand”, which elaborated on the wide and effective utilizations of space applications in Thailand, along with the opportunities to collectively conduct joint activities/projects under the Center. His proposals covered satellite basemap project, coastal spatial database system project, coastal land use classification project, green area and forest classification project, and land use classification project. Over 150 attendants of the Seminar were excited and looked forward to the achievement of these regional projects. 
The Center and the Seminar on China-ASEAN Satellite Remote Sensing are not only representing a symbol of good relationship between China and Southeast Asian countries but also serving as a significant platform for sharing knowledge, technology, and space-based data. Most of all, this is the platform where all relevant space application stakeholders in the region come together to make a real difference in regional development using space technology. As one of the agencies involved with the Center since the beginning, GISTDA will continue to work closely with all stakeholder to extend the glory of this platform, bringing about the greatest benefits of technologies and cooperation, reaching the ultimate goals of safe, prosperous, and sustainable region.
