The 3rd GISTDA-JAXA workshop for THEOS Series and ALOS Series Cooperation

The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency – GISTDA in collaboration with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency – JAXA jointly organized “The 3rd GISTDA – JAXA Workshop for THEOS Series and ALOS Series Cooperation” on 16 March 2012 at Bangkok Chada Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. This workshop aims to presentation of the research project in the following areas 1) flood prediction modeling 2) rice crop yield estimation and 3) coastal line change and land subsidence. These research projects are very important in utility geo-informatics and space technology in term of economic, environmental and social for sustainability. In addition, the research will gain potential competition of the country and prepare Thailand for ASEAN Community in 2015.

The workshop would represent a high technical collaboration between Japan and the kingdom of Thailand. Recently, GISTDA supported JAXA with 55 THEOS images free of charge suddenly just after the Tsunami event in Japan on March, 2011 valuing more than 10 million baht while JAXA supported GISTDA with PiSAR data taken by the airplane equipped with radar system for observation of flooded area in Thailand 2011.
