On 26 July 2011, GISTDA hosts the Workshop on Cooperative Project on the Establishment of ASEAN Earth Observation Satellite at Siam Bayshore Spa and Resort, Pattaya, Chonburi Province. The aim of the workshop is to discuss view of having ASEAN Earth Observation Satellite – ASEAN EOS and the feasibility of the project among ASEAN countries. There are the representatives from Cambodia, Indonesia, LAO PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore Thailand and ASEAN Secretariat attending the workshop. Besides, GISTDA will organize the technical visit of THEOS Ground Station Center on 27 July 2011.

At the Opening, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Somchet Thinaphong, Chairman of GISTDA Executive Board kindly delivered keynote address after welcome remark by Dr. Anond Snidvongs, Acting Executive Director of GISTDA.

The Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency-GISTDA as a national focal point on ASEAN-Subcommittee on Space Technology and Applications-SCOSA proposed the Project on the Establishment of ASEAN Earth Observation Satellite – ASEAN EOS to the 22nd SCOSA during 9-10 May 2011 in Siem Riep, Cambodia and the Meeting agreed in principle that Thailand would host the Workshop on Cooperative Project on ASEAN-EOS in July 2011
